Media terms

These are the terms on which travel-trade partners and the media may use our photographs and films. They are the licence that travels with our partner folder as its LICENCE.txt, published here because every file’s embedded metadata points to this page.

You may pass these files, unaltered and with their metadata intact, to your own designers, agencies and travel-trade clients and agents who sell Makakatana, who are bound by these terms; never to stock libraries, other properties or anyone outside the travel trade.

Credit the string embedded in each file adjacent to the image or in your page’s or brochure’s credits, and in the caption of every social post; where your medium has no per-image credit, one credits block on the page is sufficient.

You may crop and colour-correct, and set text over the image in your own layout. Do not distribute altered image files — filters, composites, text baked in, generative extension, upscaling or background removal — and do not remove our logo where it appears or strip the embedded metadata.

Our partner folder holds the current set, and the foot of its Captions & credits sheet, under “Retired from this set”, names every file that has left it and why. Replace superseded images at your next scheduled update and within 90 days on digital channels, and remove any image we withdraw — in particular an image of a person — within 30 days on digital channels; print already produced is excepted.

The people in these photographs are our own guests, staff and models, photographed on our commissioned shoots, and we license these frames to you for the uses above. The Captions & credits sheet says who is in each frame, and no child appears in the set. If we withdraw a frame — most likely because someone in it asks — take it down within 30 days on digital channels.

A withdrawn image is removed from every folder, and every partner is asked to take it down within 30 days on digital channels.

Some of our files, chiefly the vertical films and photographs made for social media, carry terms that keep them to our own channels: they are not licensed to partners or third parties.

This licence runs for 24 months from the date of the set, printed on the folder’s LICENCE.txt, and ends earlier on notice. These terms and the folder’s _README are the whole licence.
