Makakatana Bay Lodge has recently joined the growing number of African safari lodges who have opted to go solar. We recently implemented a greener energy supply solution that will help us reduce our dependence on the very strained power grid in South Africa.
Guilt free Vegan Fudge Recipe
Tired of being served fruit salad as vegan with a sweet tooth?
Planning a safari to a luxury bush lodge in St Lucia, KwaZulu Natal but are worried what Vegan food you are going to be served? 🤔
At Makakatana, our chefs have some seriously delicious secret sweet recipes. Some of these recipes have been shared with us, and we are happy to share them with you too.
"BUT WAIT" you ask ....... 'surely you don't share secret recipes'?
AAAh... but we do share our recipes......
We share our recipes and our friends share their recipes with us too. Catherine at the VEGAN KITCHEN is Vegan Food specialist and was kind enough to share this Peanut butter Fudge recipe with her friend Nadia, our head chef.
Like any collector, Chefs and foodies pride themselves on their recipe collections. Collecting and sharing recipes that cater for all types of dietary requirements takes time, effort and always requires research. Sometimes it requires reaching out to talented creative foodie friends in the business.
It is such a compliment being asked for a recipe and gifting others with recipes is simply joyous. It is what keeps us searching for more special recipes that delight and surprise the tastebuds!
Creativity and experimentation with Vegan cooking can require a bit more creativity and experimentation than traditional cooking, since many traditional ingredients are off-limits. When delicious vegan food is created, there is a sense of excitement and thrill at having found a new way to prepare food that is both tasty and healthy. Sharing recipes is a way to connect with others, feel a sense of accomplishment, promote health and sustainability, and explore creativity and experimentation in the kitchen.
Veganism is a dietary choice that many people have made for ethical, health or environmental reasons and we at Makakatana try to provide great options for our guests who follow a vegan diet. We are happy to offer vegan meals on our menu on request.
Enjoy the fudge!
