But for the nippy mornings and evenings, it is balmy during the day. What a Safari experience ! The staff at the lodge, Jaco and Warwick our guides were perfect. Busy game schedule but a must to have the chance to see the wild life out there. We stayed in the honeymoon suite with amazing view on the bush and wetland sounds. A must experience Makakatana lodge.

Wonderful experience. Lodge and staff are amazing. Attention to detail, fine cuisine and nothing is too much trouble attitude enhanced our experience. Definitely worth a visit.

The St. Lucia wetlands has been on our bucket list for quite some time.
What a lovely place, right in the middle of a National Park.
Rooms are large, clean and very well maintained.

"Breathtaking"
It was our honeymoon. My wife teared up walking into our room it was so beautiful. Staff were always there to assist you. Game drives were fulfilling. Would love to come back. Our only issue was that we did not have enough vacation to enjoy everything this Lodge has to offer.

“The place to stay ! In the middle of a wonderful park, well organized and luxury lodge”
The environment is magic and this is the only accommodation in this part of the park. The room is big, well decorated ,well equipped and the terraces had a wonderful view on the lake. A lot of beautiful birds to view and animals going near our lodge. Restaurant was perfect. Our ranger for the game drives was friendly and knowledgeable. All personnel was very nice and did everything to make us happy.

The rangers were great, food was excellent, room was wonderful, surroundings were lovely....all staff working there were like one family, this created such a lovely relaxing environment....

Made it fun for the kids and adults. Very patient. Lovely place and experience. Offers "Beach" and safari which was great for both kids. Made children feel welcome!

I really enjoyed our stay at Makakatana. It's so peaceful and quiet and one gets to enjoy pure nature. The service is great, very attentive, and the hosts were wonderful.

One of the best rangers on our 3 weeks long travel in South Africa. Interested, engaged, knowledgeable and great fun. Recommended!

A very warm and genuine welcome awaits you at this lodge. This is not a Big-5 game reserve, but a wetland reserve with something different if you've done the more traditional safari before.
